Quarry Bank Mill & Styal Estate

Quarry Bank Mill is a working water and steam powered cotton mill. Spinning and weaving techniques from throughout the industrial revolution are demonstrated every day and items made fronmt he cloth are sold in the shop. The mill and its colony village are set in the beautiful Styal Estate beside the river Bollin. There are lots of practical 'hands-on' activities plus a children's playground and railway. The Apprentice House and it's Victorian vegetable garden show how life was for the mill apprentices.

Mill open all year, April-Sep daily 10.30-5.30 (last admission 4); Oct 19 Mar , daily 10.30-5 (closed Mon in term time). Last admission 3.30. Apprentice House & Garden, Tue-Fri from 11(2-30.3 term time0, Sat-Sun & Aug from 11. Closed Mon (ex school hols).
